“I Will Not Tolerate Biafra, They Are Joking” — Buhari Rubbishes Biafra Talks

President Muhammadu Buhari told a host of "Talk To Al Jazeera" during his recent visit to Qatar that his administration doesn't plan to dialogue with activists in the Southeast of Nigeria fighting to restore the sovereign state of Biafra.

During a 26-minute long interview, Buhari discussed a wide variety of topics including oil prices, devaluation of Nigeria currency and his regime's promise to end Boko Haram insurgency.

Towards the end of the interview Buhari was tackled over  his stance on Biafran agitator and told to watch a video clip of how Nigerian troops attacked a peaceful gathering of Biafran activists, while declining to watch the clip, Buhari told Al Jazeera that security forces would not relent in its crackdown on those planning to break up Nigeria.

He said,
At least two million Nigerians were killed in the Biafra war. And for somebody to wake up, may be they weren’t born. Looking for Biafra after two million people were killed, they are joking with the security and Nigeria won’t tolerate Biafra.
The declaration of the Independent Republic of Biafra in 1967 caused a civil war that resulted in the death of millions and the re-annexation of the republic to Nigeria in 1970.
